"Hear More Here" Design Contest - October 21, 2009

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO NOVEMBER 23rd

Montana Public Radio Design Contest

Enter your original design for our Pledge Week 2010 Theme “Hear More Here.” Have your work showcased by Montana Public Radio. The winner receives a $300 Honorarium.

Your design will be used for Pledge Week 2010 promotion including posters, t-shirts, ads, etc. This is a great way to showcase your talents.

Read all of the rules very carefully, as failure to follow them will disqualify your design. Designs must be received by 5pm, Monday November 23rd.

Completed designs can be emailed as a pdf to susan.jamerson@umontana.edu. You can also mail in or drop off your design to: PAR/TV Building, ATTN: MTPR Design Contest, University of Montana, Missoula, MT 59812. For questions, call 243-4214.

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES


ENTRY DESIGN GUIDELINES

• Your Entry Design must be inspired by Montana Public Radio’s 2010 Pledge Week theme “HEAR MORE HERE.”

• Your design must be two-dimensional and one sided.

• Each artist may submit a maximum of three Entry Designs, but each design must have its own entry form.

• Your Entry Design must be wholly original - you are guaranteeing that you hold rights to everything in it and it does not contain any copyrighted material belonging to a 3rd party.

ENTRY DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS

• It’s best to create your Entry Design in Photoshop or Illustrator or another professional design program. Items created as drawings, paintings, wood block prints, etc. must be able to be scanned and cannot be larger that 12” x 17”.

• Electronic files should be a minimum of 300 dpi and submitted as a PDF or a flattened JPG. The winner will be required to submit higher resolution art and the original file with layers.

SUBMISSION AGREEMENT

• No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win.

• Contest is open to Montana residents only, including students currently attending school in Montana.

• Montana Public Radio employees and members of their immediate families are prohibited from entering this contest.

• You must be 18 years or older to submit a design. If younger than 18, your artwork must be submitted on your behalf by a parent or guardian.

• The contest will begin on October 20th, 2009 and ALL ITEMS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 5:00PM ON MONDAY, NOV. 16TH – THIS IS NOT A POSTMARKED DEADLINE.

• Montana Public Radio will have all rights to the winning design. By submitting you agree that if your Entry Design wins, it can be used by Montana Public Radio on Posters, Ads, Cards, Hats, T-Shirt and other promotional items.

• We reserve the right to make adjustments to the winning design.

• Entries will be judged by the staff of Montana Public Radio.

• The winner will receive a $300 Honorarium.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

• To enter, each submission must include the artist’s full name, complete address, phone number, e-mail address and title of the piece. Incomplete submissions or those not meeting the design guidelines will not be judged.

• Electronic files should be no larger that 2MB and attached in an email sent to susan.jamerson@umontana.edu

• Hard copy submissions can be dropped off in person at the MTPR Front Desk in the PAR-TV Building on the University of Montana Campus in Missoula or mailed to MTPR, 32 Campus Drive, Missoula MT 59812 (If you would like your art work returned - excludes winning design - please include a self-addressed stamped envelop or packaging. If you intend to pick up the work in person, make a note of that. If not picked up by December 18th, the art work becomes the property of MTPR.)

• Individuals with disabilities should contact Susan Jamerson at susan.jamerson@umontana.edu if assistance with submitting an entry is needed.

CONDITIONS

• By submitting you are agreeing to unconditionally accept and agree to comply with and abide by these Official Rules and the decision of MTPR which shall be final and binding in all respects.

• Once submitted, Entry Designs become the exclusive property of MTPR. Entry Designs which MTPR determines are not reasonably pertinent to the subject matter of the Contest, or are otherwise in violation of these Official Rules will be disqualified. MTPR reserves the right to disqualify any Entry Design for any reason, in its sole and absolute discretion.

• MTPR is not obliged to use any Entry Design and may at any time abandon the use of the any Entry Design for any reason, and Entrants shall not be entitled to any damages or other relief by reason thereof. The use of any Entry Design by MTPR on promotional materials will be determined by MTPR in its sole discretion.

• MTPR is not responsible for any Entry Designs that are altered, defective, delayed, deleted, destroyed, fraudulent, invalid, late, lost, misrouted, stolen, tampered with, technical failures; undeliverable e-mails resulting from any form of active or passive e-mail filtering; insufficient space in an e-mail account to receive e-mail; or other errors of any kind, whether due to electronic, mechanical or human error or other causes, even if caused by the negligence of the MTPR.

• This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, local and municipal laws and regulations.

• The Prize is not transferable. All taxes and reporting consequences thereof associated with the receipt of the Honorarium, if applicable, are solely the responsibility of the Winner. Winners may be required to supply a Social Security or taxpayer ID number prior to the award of the Honorarium.

• All Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decision of the Judges, whose decisions are final and binding.

• The Winner will be notified by telephone, email, or express mail to the phone number, email or address listed as part of the entry process on or about November 23, 2009.

• The Winner must comply with all terms and conditions set forth in these Official Rules. Winning is contingent upon fulfilling all such requirements.

• In its sole discretion, MTPR has the right to cancel, terminate or suspend the Contest; and in such event, to select from among all eligible Entry Designs received up to such time of cancellation, termination or suspension, or to cancel the Contest and not award any Prize.

• In the event that any dispute arises regarding the meaning or interpretation of these Official Rules, it is agreed that the dispute shall be resolved by applying the laws of the State of Montana within the Federal or state courts located in Missoula County Montana.

• By participating, Entrants agree to release and hold harmless MTPR from any and all liability, for loss, harm, damage, claim, injury, cost or expense whatsoever which may occur as a result of participating in the Contest.

• The Winner’s acceptance of the Honorarium constitutes the grant of an unconditional right to use the winning Entry Design, the Winner’s likeness, photograph, biographical and Prize information and/or statements about the promotion for any publicity, advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.

DATES & DEADLINES/ANTICIPATED NUMBER OF CONTESTANTS

• MTPR reserves the right, in addition to those other rights reserved herein, to modify any date(s) or deadline(s) set forth in these Official Rules or otherwise governing the Contest.

• MTPR cannot accurately predict the number of Entrants who will participate in the Contest.

• MTPR reserves the right to not choose a winner or award any Prize if it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entry Designs.

• To obtain copy of any legally-required Winners list, send a self-addressed stamped envelope postmarked by 12/1/2009 to: MTPR attn: Susan Jamerson, 32 Campus Drive Missoula MT 59812.
