Today's Highlight: Today’s University and Community Activities are partly sponsored by Helena Food Share who will be hosting a Mardi Gras on March 23rd with Cajun cuisine, live music by Vintage, raffles, and a silent auction all at the Great Northern Best Western in Helena. A free quilting workshop will be given to everyone interested in quilting from beginners to experts and for any age level. The workshop will be given TONIGHT at the Museum at Central School, 124 2nd Ave East in Kalispell. Some material and sewing tools will be provided, and you are encouraged to bring your own project with you. For more complete information, please call the museum at 756-8381.

The public is invited to a free double-feature showing of two films, “The Economics of Happiness” and “Shift Change.” The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. TONIGHT at the Burns Street Bistro, 1500 Burns Street in Missoula. The Swan Ecosystem Center in Condon invites everyone to a presentation that will be given by Walter “Bud” Jewett on his lifetime with butterflies. Over 100 slides and a narration of numerous butterfly and moth behaviors will be presented at 7:00 p.m. tomorrow night at the Condon Work Center, 6887 MT Highway 83, near mile marker 43. The Native Plant Society in Missoula invites everyone to a free evening lecture that will be given by Bill Caras and Jennie Meinershagen who will give a presentation on “Cultural Plants for the UM Native American Center and the Rise of Native Landscaping.” This presentation will be given at 7:30 tomorrow night at the Montana Natural History Center, 120 Hickory Street. The public is invited to become a volunteer with the Make-a-Wish organization who grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Volunteers are asked to register in advance for an upcoming training session that will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. this Saturday, March 16th in the Arts and Technology Building at Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell. The University of Montana’s Odyssey of the Stars honoring artist Nancy Erickson will be held this Saturday, March 16th at 7:30 p.m. in the Dennison Theatre on the UM campus in Missoula. In conjunction with this, a public celebrity artist tour with Associate Professor Laura Alvarez will be held tomorrow, March 14th from 5:10 – 6:00 p.m. in the Paxson Gallery of the PARTV Center on the UM campus. The Montana Museum of Art and Culture will also host a pre-Odyssey of the Stars visit to Nancy Erickson’s Kindred Spirits exhibit. The Meloy Gallery will be open from 6:30 – 7:25 on Saturday, March 16th and it will be a short walk to the Dennison Theatre where the Odyssey of the Stars event will take place.
