Today's Highlight: Today’s University and Community Activities are partly sponsored by UM Productions in Missoula. Presenting On Ensemble featuring Japanese drumming with elements of hip-hop, rock and electronica. March 9th at 7:30pm in the Dennison Theater at the University of Montana. Open to all UM students. Fit to Fight: Stronger than Cancer invites all cancer survivors, at any stage of recovery, to join a Winter Session Exercise Program. Participants will improve their quality of life through an 8-week program of fitness and health. This program will begin on Tuesday, March 5th at 5pm at The PEAK in Missoula. Registration required. Turning the Tide will host a regional health conference, “Crossing Divides: Health on a Changing Planet”, focused on how the health issues affecting humans are related to environmental damage caused by humans. This is the last week that Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program will have IRS-certified volunteers at the University of Montana providing free basic tax return preparation and e-filing to eligible individuals. The VITA Program will take place on Saturday, March 9th from 9am-4pm in room L26 of the Gallagher Business Building on the UM campus. Visit irs.gov and search VITA to find eligibility criteria as well as a list of information needed to participate. For more information, call 243-4831.
The Butte Silver Bow Arts Foundation and Mai Wah Museum have teamed up to bring back the Chinese New Year Exhibit, representing “the Year of the Snake” this year. Viewers are able to vote on their favorite pieces, and prizes for 1st-3rd place will be announced on Friday, March 15th. The exhibit is on display at Venus Rising Espresso House in Butte through Wednesday, March 13th. For more information, go to bsbaf.bsbarts.org.
Missoula Art Museum will host Preschool Art Start II for children ages 3-5. This class offers a stimulating array of projects to inspire you child’s creativity. There are three sessions of this class, with four classes per session. The class will run from Wednesday, March 6th- Wednesday, March 27th from 10:30-11:30am.
