The International Programs at The University of Montana in Missoula invites the public to a celebration of India with presentations of music, art, film, seminars, and lectures during the week of March 1st through the 9th. A keynote address will be given at 8:00 o’clock Monday evening, March 3rd in the Dennison Theater by Professor Leela Gandi, great-granddaughter of Mohatma Gandi. The Ninemile Wildlife Workgroup will host a free public lecture by Sheryl Gunn on “Optimizing Forest Structure for Wildlife Habitat.” The lecture will be given at 7:00 p.m. tomorrow night, February 28th at the Ninemile Ranger Station, 5 miles north from Huson, Exit 85. A free, one-hour class in Olympic fencing will be offered to the first 15 people to arrive at the Missoula Fencing Association’s Open House. Show your support for Meals on Wheels, a program of Missoula Aging Services, during the March for Meals campaign. Join the donation drive or participate in events during the month to raise awareness for the Meals on Wheels program. Plum Creek and the College of Forestry and Conservation at the University of Montana will host “The Clean Water Act on Trial,” a free public event covering the recent Supreme Court case implicating forest logging roads as point sources of pollution. Morning presentations will be on the legal arguments and the afternoon session will address the local implications on how business will be conducted, given a decision in this case. The Clay Studio of Missoula will host an exhibition of the work created by students, members, and studio artists of the Clay Studio during the 2012-2013 year. An opening reception will be held this Friday, March 1st from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. at the gallery, 1106 Hawthorne Street in Missoula. Call 543-0509 if you’d like any additional information.
