Today's Highlight: The Ravalli County Museum in Hamilton invites photographers from all over Montana to submit a photograph for the 20th annual Ernst Peterson Photograph Montana Contest. To participate, download an entry form at www.brvhsmuseum.org or call the museum for details.
Also at the Ravalli County Museum, join community members for the Exhibit Opening of “Harry Potter’s World: Renaissance Science, Magic, and Medicine.” The opening will begin on Thursday, December 20th at 6:00 p.m. and featured events include the Hamilton High School Choir who’ll sing Renaissance music and GeeWhiz Professor Garon Smith from the UM Science Department. You are invited to come to the opening dressed up in Renaissance costumes or come as your favorite Harry Potter character. Call the museum at 363-3338 for more information.
The Helena Youth Choir will give a free, public Holiday Concert at 6:00 p.m. this Friday evening, December 21st at the First Presbyterian Church on Rodney and 11th Ave in Helena. All are welcome at the concert and more young singers can join at any time during the school months. Call 465-0020 for more information.
Hospice of Missoula will hold their monthly Community Conversation on Death and Dying tomorrow night, December 20th from 6:00 – 8:00 at The Loft, 119 West Main Street. This month, Mary Place Allyn will offer ideas about celebrating the holidays after experiencing loss. Call Hospice of Missoula at 543-4408 if you have any questions.
To benefit the “Break the Silence of Violence” organization, men 18 and over are invited to create a basketball team and enter the 3rd Annual Double Elimination Basketball Tournament that will be held December 28 & 29 in Glasgow. For more complete information, please call 228-8401.
UM Spectrum Discovery Area will hold two, winter break camps on December 27th and the 28th. These camps are geared for 8 – 11 year-olds with the first day focusing on the theme of Techno-Craze and on Friday, the theme will be chemistry concoctions. The public is invited to two upcoming New Year’s Eve Dances that will be held the night of December 31st. The Bitterroot Dancers in Hamilton will hold their dance at the Eagles Lodge from 7:00 p.m. – midnight. A pot luck precedes the dance at 6:00 o’clock and the Wild Coyotes Band will be playing. Also, the American Legion Hellgate Post Number 27 will hold their dance in the American Legion Hall, located at 825 Ronan St in Missoula, beginning at 8:00 p.m. Music will be by Klassix and appetizers are provided.
