The Marcus Daly Hospice Services in Hamilton invites everyone to their 21st annual Hospice Tree of Lights community remembrance on Thursday, December 13th at 4:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1220 West Main Street. This is a nondenominational remembrance service for a friend or loved one and will be followed by the lighting of the Hospice Tree of Lights at the Marcus Daly Hospital. The Helena High American Welding Society Club encourages Helena residents to donate their old cell phones to recycle the batteries and the phones so that they don’t end up in the local landfill. A portion of the profits will be given to the club to do community service projects and also help with costs for trainings. The phones can be dropped off at the Helena High School Main Office through January 31st 2013. Call Cindy at 324-2180 with any questions.
Owls are out and about on these long winter nights, so The Montana Natural History Center in Missoula will host a children’s activity this Saturday afternoon titled, “Who Wants to Learn about Owls?” Planned are games, fun activities, and craft projects. The class be held from 2:00 – 3:00 pm at the Fort Missoula Native Plant Garden classroom, under the big silver water tower at the fort. The Missoula Public Library will host the following young adult events this December: a Young Adult Writers Group meets on Fridays from 3:30 – 5:30 with snacks provided; a Scribblers Middle School Writers’ Group meets Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 – 5:30 with chocolate provided; and a Young Adult Volunteer Orientation will be held next Tuesday, December 18th from 4:00 – 5:30. The orientation will count for school requirements, community service, and letters of reference for jobs or college. The Missoula Bike/Pedestrian Office reminds all bicycle riders that when riding a bike at night, use head lights and tail lights to keep everyone who is using the road safe. Riding without a light when it’s dark is against the law, so be safe, be legal, be bright, and use your lights. For further information, call Ben at 552-6352.
The Bitterroot Public Library’s Fellowship Club will meet this Thursday, December 13th to discuss the book, “Change Your Thoughts – Change Your Life.” The Fellowship Club meets every second Thursday of the month and is open to the public. For more information, call 363-1670.
