Carroll College in Helena will hold its Ninth Annual Literary Festival tomorrow, November 8th in the Carroll College Campus Center, 1601 North Benton Ave. Festival readings by local authors, students and professors will be held from noon to
6:00 p.m. which will be followed by a panel discussion on “Different Angles on the Apocalypse.” At 7:30 p.m. the keynote speaker, Dr. Paula Marks, will present, “Attached Ever So Lightly? History, Fiction, and Lives Pulled from the Past.” Call 447-5415 for complete details on this festival.
This Thursday, November 8th at 6:30 p.m. the Museum at Central School, 124 Second Ave East in Kalispell, will host a free historic book club discussion on the book, “The Old Lonesome.” The Museum will also host a quilting workshop on Wednesday, November 14th at 1:00 o’clock. The 2nd Annual Inland Northwest Permaculture Conference will be held November 9th – 11th on the 3rd floor of the University Center at The University of Montana in Missoula. Permaculture’s three ethics are: care of the earth; care of the people; and the dispersal of surplus towards those ends. Everyone is invited to attend, and students will receive a discounted rate. The 14th Annual Salsa Ball to benefit the Missoula Medical Aid group will be held this Friday, November 9th at the Missoula Children’s Theatre, 200 North Adams Street in Missoula. The Rails to Trails Harvest Dance, Pie, and Silent Auction will be held on Saturday, November 10th at the Smith Valley Grange Hall on Highway 2 West. Contra dancing for the entire family is featured as well as pie tasting, and the silent auction. Call Pat at 257-1932 if you’d like more information.
The Missoula Senior Center, located at 705 South Higgins Ave will host the following free events: a Hearing Aid seminar will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 8th; then on Saturday, November 10th a Christmas Bazaar and Jewelry Sale will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and later that evening you can dance to the “Heart to Heart Duo” from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. The Missoula Senior Center will also host an Alzheimer’s Class from 5:30 – 7:30 on Sunday, November 11th. The Bitterroot Public Library’s Fellowship Club will meet at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow night to discuss the book, “The Emerald Tablet: Alchemy for Personal Transformation.” The Bitterroot Public Library is located at 306 State Street in Hamilton. Call the library at 363-1670 for more information.
