Today's Highlight: The University Of Montana School Of Social Work in Missoula will host an informational meeting for anyone interested in learning about the Master’s of Social Work Program. The session will include a program overview, information on admission and financial aid, and an informal Q and A with faculty and student representatives. If you are interested, the meeting will be held tomorrow night from 6:30 – 8:00 o’clock in room 332 of the University Center on the UM mountain campus. Homeword of Missoula invites the public to their Open House for their Solstice Building, located at 1535 Liberty Lane. The open house will be held tomorrow afternoon from 4:00 – 6:00 PM and you can enjoy music, food, and beverages as well as a tour of the facility. In celebration of Missoula’s upcoming Day of the Dead Parade, the Montana Natural History Center will conduct a special, nature-based costume workshop. Use plant materials to create crowns and wands, and then reference their animal skull specimens to design a screen print on material. The workshop will be held tomorrow evening from 5:30 – 7:30 in the Fort Missoula Native Plant Garden classroom, under the big silver water tower at the fort. The UM Creative Writing Program invites everyone to a free public fiction reading given by William Kittredge, recipient of the Los Angeles Times Lifetime Achievement Award and co-producer of the film, “A River Runs Through It.” The reading will be given on Friday, October 19th in the Dell Brown room of Turner Hall on the UM campus. Don’t miss the Ninemile Wildlife Workgroup’s annual “Not Just Cake” auction that will be held on Saturday, October 20th at 6:00 pm at the historic Ninemile Ranger Station. The Missoula Tweed Ride, a family friendly bike ride through Missoula that’s followed by a kid’s harvest party and bicycle carnival will take place this Sunday, October 21st. The North Valley Hospital in Whitefish invites the public to part 3 of their Weight of the Nation Documentary Series, “Children in Crisis: Confronting America’s Obesity Epidemic.” Part 3 confronts the challenges of combating childhood obesity and the importance of proper nutrition and activity for the future health and wealth of our country. A panel presentation and discussion will follow the screening. This presentation will be held on Monday, October 22nd at 7:00 PM and is free and open to the public.
