Today's Highlight: Ravalli County Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence invites the community to participate in White Ribbon Week to raise awareness about domestic violence in Ravalli County. All you need to do to show your support is wear a White Ribbon all this week. Ribbons are available at S.A.F.E., Safe on First Thrift Store and Chapter One Book Store. Participants are welcome to request ribbons for businesses, book clubs, BBQs or other social gathering.
The Institute on Ecosystems Rough Cut Series will continue this week with a lecture presented by Andrew Wilcox of the UM Geosciences Department. Wilcox will present today at 4:10pm in the University Center Theater on the UM campus AND on Wednesday, October 17th at 4:10pm in Gaines Hall Room 43 on the MSU Campus. The Whitefish Community Center will host a free public screening of the film “The Weight of the Nation: Confronting America’s Obesity Epidemic, Part 2 Choices”. The film is about 1 hour long and will be followed by a panel discussion of local experts. Healthy snacks will be provided. The screening will take place tonight at 7pm at the Whitefish Community Center. For more information, call 862-4923.
Missoula County is pleased to announce that it has opened the doors to its new records and training center. The records area will provide the public centralized access to archived county documents. It also provides two computer stations for public use to research record. For more information about this new center, call 258-3477.
The Shining Mountains Chapter of the Montana Wilderness Association will hold a meeting and fast-packing presentation where Michael Jarnevic will show how he carries less than 20 pounds for an overnight warm weather trip. The meeting and presentation will take place tomorrow at 7pm in the Trail Head, 221 E. Front St., Missoula.
