Today's Highlight: Today's University and Community calendar is partly sponsored by Humanities Montana who invites you to this year’s Festival of the Book. The Festival features over 75 authors in a variety of readings, panels, exhibits, workshops and more. The Festival of the Book will be held October 4th through the 6th in Missoula. The Flathead Valley Community College will kick off the 5th annual Festival of Flavors with a farmers market on Thursday, September 27th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on the FVCC campus in Kalispell. The evening includes food trucks, food booths, local wineries, local breweries, a soda shop, a pie auction, surprise guests and much more. The University of Montana Creative Writing program and the President’s Writers-in-Residence Series invite the public to a nonfiction reading by Susan Cheever. Ms. Cheever was a regular writer at Newsweek and a columnist at Newsday for many years. The reading will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28th in the Dell Brown Room of Turner Hall on the UM campus. For more information, please call 243-5267.
The public is invited to join Montana State Parks for National Public Lands Day at the Milltown State Park, Montana’s newest state park. Volunteers are needed from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. this Saturday to plant native species, remove trash, and work on fences. Afterwards, volunteers will be treated to a free barbeque at 1:30. The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula is hosting a free, public open house for everyone to see Missoula’s historic 1912 electric trolley. A free art workshop on Found Object Mobiles will take place this Saturday from 10:30 – 12:30 at Living Art of Montana, 725 W. Alder Street in Missoula. This workshop is for anyone facing illness or loss and includes care providers and family members. Call 549-5329 if you’d like more information.

They will come to your yard, collect the fruit and put it to good use by giving it to the Food Bank or the Poverello Center.
