Today's Highlight: Today’s University and Community Activities are partly sponsored by the Annual Bitterroot Scottish Irish Festival that will be held August 24th through the 26th and will include Highland games, dance, pipe and drum competitions, demonstrations, medieval reenactments, vendors and cultural food. The Plains Women’s Club invites the public to a community potluck that will be held in conjunction with the Shakespeare in the Parks’ presentation of “Hamlet.” The potluck will begin at 5:00 o’clock at the Sanders County Fairgrounds and the play will follow at 6:00. The public is invited to attend a “Wild West Day” at Camp Make-A-Dream in Gold Creek. The family friendly event will take place on Saturday, August 18th from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and will feature a barbeque dinner and western-themed activities like sapphire mining, old-time photos, roping demonstrations, line dancing, cowboy songs and poetry, a general store, and much more. The Ninemile Wildlife Workgroup invites the public to attend the 4th annual Community and Wildlife Appreciation Potluck that will take place on Sunday, August 19th beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Ninemile Community Center. Featured during the potluck is a presentation on how to live safely with bears. Please call 542-2462 if you’d like more information or directions to the center.
The “Wall that Heals,” a one-half scale exact replica of the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial in Washington, D.C. will be on exhibit in Missoula from Thursday, August 16th through Sunday, August 19th. This will be the Moving Wall’s only visit to Montana this year and will be located on The University of Montana campus in the park near the football stadium. It will be open 24 hours each day. The Headwaters RC&D will hold a Homebuyer’s Education Class on August 22 and 23rd at the Thornton Building, 65 East Broadway in Butte. Participants will receive information about affordable home-financing options, the mortgage process, homeowners insurance and other aspects of home ownership. Everyone is invited to join Garden City Harvest for its annual Farm Party that will be held at the PEAS farm in Missoula tomorrow night, August 16th beginning at 5:30 p.m. This year the Farm Party will feature live music from Tom Catmull and the Clerics, Mudslide Charley as well as a farm fresh dinner.
