Today's Highlight: The Nurturing Center in Kalispell is seeking mentors for eighth-grade girls in the GEM program. Mentoring with GEM is fun, flexible, and easy to fit into your life. In the time it takes to go to lunch or take a long walk, you can make a meaningful connection with a teen girl. Contact Adrienne at 756-1414 for more information on becoming a mentor with GEM.

The Cabin Fever Quilters of Mineral County invite the public to their quilt show in the High School Multipurpose Room in Superior. Doors open at 10:00 am this Friday and Saturday, August 3rd and 4th and the show will include a boutique of handmade items, quilt shop vendors, and People’s Choice voting. The Tamarack Grief Resource Center of Missoula will conduct a river trip for men grieving the death of a family member. The fish/float/ and barbeque begins at 1:00 pm this Friday August 3rd and will focus on enjoying the river. Big Sky DevCon, a Montana-themed technology conference for developers and designers, will take place this Friday and Saturday in Bozeman. The conference is designed for software developers, Web designers, and business leaders in the technology industry. A kick-off barbeque will take place at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 3rd, and the main conference starts at 8:00 am on Saturday in the Student Union Ballroom on the MSU campus. Properly functioning dams are valuable assets to landowners and timely maintenance helps to avoid the frustration of property damage. A Montana Dam Owners Workshop will take place from 11:30 – 3:30 this Friday, August 3rd at the Fish, Wildlife, and Parks Headquarters in Kalispell. Presentations include the basics of dam inspections, aquatic weed and invasive species control, concrete issues, and emergency actions in case of failure. Receive a notebook of resource materials and enjoy a free lunch at the workshop. Call 994-6671 for more information.

The Hamilton Farmers’ Market, located on Bedford Street in Hamilton, is now hosting a Wednesday evening market from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The Saturday market continues to run from 9:00 am – 12:30 and both markets include locally grown produce, handmade crafts and freshly baked goodies.

The Pattee Canyon Ladies Salon of Missoula invites the public to their annual Art Exhibit at the Brunswick Building Gallery, 223 West Railroad Street in Missoula. A First Friday opening will take place this Friday, August 3rd from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. The four-day exhibit runs from Thursday, August 2nd through Monday August 6th.
