Today’s University and Community Activities are sponsored by the Montana Natural History Center. Offering week long, outdoor exploration summer programs in Missoula, for kids ages 3 and up. Currently accepting registration for four weeks left of summer camp adventures. Information online at Montana Naturalist dot org.
Trout Unlimited will host a volunteer opportunity to help spread native seed on recently decommissioned roads in the Piquett Creek watershed in the Bitterroot National Forest. All volunteers should meet tomorrow at 8:30am in the Safeway parking lot in Hamilton to carpool to the site. Carpool will arrive back in Hamilton no later that 5pm. Volunteers should take hiking shoes, gloves and water. Lunch and seeders provided. RSVP by calling Heather Whiteley at 531-8657.
The Native American Community Development Corporation invites the community to take part in a two-day course on business planning and the creation of working systems. The course will take place Wednesday, July 25th and Thursday the 26th at the Great Falls Holiday Inn. For more information call 586-2455.
The Flathead Lakers will hold their annual meeting this week to celebrate conservation successes that help protect Flathead Lake’s clean water. The meeting is open to the public and will take place Thursday, July 26th at 7pm at the UM Biological Station at Yellow Bay on Flathead Lake. For more information call 883-1346.
Are you curious about Montana’s birds? Join the University of Montana’s Avian Science Center for any of their morning bird bandings. This week’s bird-bandings will take place Tuesday, July 24thth; Wednesday, the 25th; and Thursday, the 26th. Plan to arrive at either 7am or 9am for the two-hour program. Alpine Artisans will hold an Upscale Garage Sale to benefit cultural activities in the Seeley-Swan. Proceeds from the sale will help support the Open Book Club at the Grizzly Club, the Tour of the Arts, and Crown Community Cinema. The Garage Sale will take place Saturday, August 4th from 9am-3pm at the Seeley Lake Community Hall. If you have items to contribute, please drop them off between 9am and noon on Friday, August 3rd at the Community Center.
Missoula Public Library’s first-ever running race, Book’n It for the Library is comin’ up fast! If you have a Missoula Public Library card, you’ll receive a discount on registration. And if you dress up as your favorite storybook character, you just might win a prize! Book’n It for the Library will offer a 3k Fun Run and an 8k Run to be held on Saturday, July 28th at 10am beginning in the Library parking lot. Register online, in person at any of Missoula Public Library’s three branches, or on race day beginning at 8am.
