Today's Highlight: Today’s University and Community Activities are partly sponsored by the Sander’s County Arts Council – holding its 9th annual Montana Baroque Musical Festival, “Bach and the Beasts” and featuring violinist, Monica Huggett, flutist Matthias Maute and six renowned baroque musicians on July 17th through the 19th at Quinn’s Hot Springs Resort in Paradise at 7:00 pm. Seize the summer with macro photos of plants and insects with photographer Hobie Hare at The Native Plant Gardens in Missoula. This 2-hour workshop on macro photography will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 tomorrow night, July 12th at the Fort Missoula Native Plant Garden classroom, under the big silver water tower at the Fort. The MT Natural History Center is also sponsoring a family backpacking trip near Drummond this Saturday and Sunday, July 14-15th. Activities for the kids, an astronomy program and more are scheduled. The Southwest MT Arts Council’s Dinner in Jaycee Park in downtown Dillon will be held on Thursday, July 12th, beginning at 6:00 PM. A summer concert, art displays and children’s activities are planned. Dinner is available for purchase or bring your own. Call 683-6208 if you have any questions.

The Sapphire Quilt Club of Stevensville is hosting the quilt show, “Bringing Country Home,” this Friday and Saturday, July 13th and 14th, beginning at 10:00 am both days in the Stevensville High School Gym. The show features a Country Store, a silent auction, door prizes, demonstrations, vintage quilt displays, and Mama’s Kitchen. For more information, call Mary at 207-0334.

Former and present Girl Scouts are invited to bring your family and friends to create a LIVE, green eclipse of the M in Missoula to kick off Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming’s 100th anniversary celebrations. Dress in green and meet at the base of the M at 1:00 o’clock this Friday, July 13th to hike as a group to cover the M and create a living green eclipse. Come celebrate Missoula’s North and West sides at the “Rock the Hood” block party this Saturday, July 14th from 12:00 noon to 9:00 PM. The event features music from seven bands, live art, a kid zone, and many food and craft vendors. This event will take place on North 1st Street West and you can call 549-7555 if you’d like additional details.

The next meeting of the Bitterroot Fellowship Club will be held on Thursday, July 12th from 6:00 – 7:30 pm in the Community Room of the Bitterroot Public Library, 306 State Street in Hamilton. A discussion of the book, “Deep Truth: Igniting the Memory of Our Origin, History, Destiny, and Fate,” will take place. Call 363-1670 for more information.

The public is invited to the Missoula Senior Center’s Swedish Pancake Supper tomorrow afternoon, July 12th at 4:00 o’clock which will be followed by Bingo Night at 6:00 pm. Then, on Saturday, July 14th, dance to the tunes of the “Heart to Heart” duo from 7:00 – 10:00 pm.
