Information is available online at Missoula Cultural dot org or 541-0860.

The Flathead Joint Board of Control and the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes will host a Water Rights open house to discuss and provide information regarding a Draft Agreement that, if signed and implemented, will define the water use of the Flathead Indian Irrigation Project. The open house will be from 6:00 – 9:00 pm on Thursday, June 21st at the Joe McDonald Health and Recreation Center in Pablo. Call 745-2090 if you’d like additional details.

On Thursday, June 21st Trout Unlimited invites everyone to help plant trees on recently decommissioned roads in the Piquette Creek watershed, located in the Bitterroot National Forest. These trees will help stabilize slopes, provide wildlife habitat, and minimize the amount of sediment flowing into the watershed’s creeks. Meet at the Safeway parking lot at 8:30 am in Hamilton. Beautiful views and fresh air are guaranteed and a sack lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to Heather at 531-8657.

The public is invited to join the University of Montana’s Avian Science Center for a morning of bird banding tomorrow, June 21st at the Grant-Kohrs Ranch or on Friday, June 22nd at the Valley of the Moon Trailhead on Rock Creek. This event is an opportunity for both children and adults to gain bird ID skills, find out why riparian areas are so important to birds, and why biologists capture and band birds and the kinds of data they collect, and much more. Visitors are asked to arrive at either 7:00 am or 9:00 am at either location to participate in this 2-hour program. For more information about this program or to arrange a group visit, contact Sharon or Megan at 243-2035.

Two free workshops for grant seekers, offered by the Flathead Nonprofit Development Partnership in Kalispell, will be held on Friday, June 22nd. The workshop, “Getting Started with Foundation Grants to Individuals Online” will begin at 11:00 am and “Proposal Writing Basics” will start at 1:00. The workshops will be held at the Kalispell Library, 247 First Ave East. Call 756-3618 for more information.
