Today's Highlight: The Montana Office of Tourism invites everyone in the Hamilton area to a workshop to expand Montana’s tourism story. The workshop will provide information on what the state is currently doing to support tourism and will also facilitate a brainstorming session to discuss how the Bitterroot Valley area can attract more of the visitors that come to Montana each year. The workshop will be held this Friday, February 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 at the Bitterroot River Inn Conference Center in Hamilton. Call Carmen at 841-2873 to register or for additional details.

As part of Stevensville’s First Friday events, Russian pianist Maria Rosencrans will perform at the North Valley Public Library from 6:00 – 7:45 p.m. this Friday, February 3rd. Maria will perform a variety of classical and jazz piano pieces and admission is free. Call Amy at the Library at 777-5061 for more information.

The 7th annual Missoula Labor Film Festival is taking place this Friday and Saturday, February 3rd and 4th at the Roxy Theater, located at 718 South Higgins Ave in Missoula. Two films will be shown each night and a comment period for the audience will follow each screening. Call Joellen for more information at 532-4663.

We have received a large number of notifications for art openings that will be held this Friday, February 3rd in a variety of locations:

A photography exhibit by Carmine Leighton will be shown at Bathing Beauties in Missoula from 5 – 8 pm.

Teresa Garland Warner’s one-woman show of paintings will be featured at River’s Mist Gallery of Fine Art in Stevensville from 6 – 9 pm.

A look at the evolving fluidity of ice through the photography of Jamie Tipton will be shown in office #318 in the historic Higgins building in Missoula, from 5 – 8 pm.

From 4:30 – 6:30, the Master Naturalists at the Montana Natural History Center will present their detailed drawings and written journal at the First Friday Gallery Opening at the Center, 120 Hickory Street in Missoula.

And finally, the Montana Museum of Art and culture will be open to the public for their exhibits, “Fra Dana: American Impressionist in the Rockies” and “Frances Carrol Brown: Bitterroot Portraits.” This event will be held from noon to 6:00 p.m. in the Meloy and Paxon Galleries in the PARTV building on The University of Montana’s mountain campus in Missoula.
