Today's Highlight: On Thursday, January 19th, Shirley Harryman will present an illustrated account of her visit to The West Bank and Israel, including encounters with Palestinians and Israelis working to end the military occupation of the West Bank. MAPS Media Institute in Hamilton invites the public to an open house on Thursday, January 19th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Come and see what MAPS students are designing and filing in the free, after-school program. The Tamarack Grief Resource Center is sponsoring A Camp to Remember Benefit Dinner beginning at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow night, January 19th at the Lodge at Whitefish Lake, 1380 Wisconsin Ave in Whitefish. A Camp to Remember is held every summer and serves children ages 8 – 16 who have lost a loved one. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Montana in Missoula will begin its winter term of courses on January 19th. Community members ages 50 and older can explore topics from literature, history, music and other subjects taught by UM and community educators. Learn how to communicate clearly and effectively by attending Compassionate Communication Classes. The classes are offered over a series of five Monday evenings, from 6:00 – 7:30, beginning January 23rd – February 20th and will be held in the Living Art Office of the Warehouse Mall in Missoula. Everyone in the Helena area is invited to a Ping Pong/Table Tennis Marathon to benefit the Helena Friendship Center domestic violence shelter. This is a family-friendly event for all ping pong players and will include participation from members of the Friendship Center’s All Starts team, including Lt. Governor John Bohlinger, Mayor Jim Smith and Senator Christine Kaufmann and many others. Paddles and balls will be provided and non-scuff shoes are required. The event will take place this Friday night from 6:00 – 9:00 and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For complete details, contact Frank at 443-0843.
The public is invited to Seeley Lake’s” Winterfest” that will be held in downtown Seeley Lake this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. A parade will begin the festivities at 6:00 p.m. Friday, followed by a Mexican dinner and a bonfire. Other activities over the weekend will include snow sculpture viewing, a chili soup cook-off, a dessertfest, a live auction, MCT’s Bits and Pieces and a concert given by Jack Gladstone.
