A reception and opening for Montana artist, Ben Steele, will be held this Friday, September 23rd from 5:00 – 8:00 pm in the PARTV lobby on The University of Montana Missoula campus. The exhibition, “War Torn: The Art of Ben Steele, Paintings and Drawings from the Bataan Death March,” includes artwork that depicts the 41 months of starvation, dehydration, hard labor, and torture Mr. Steele endured on this famous historical event. The Missoula Indian Center will host a workshop inviting those with a substance use or mental disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life. The workshop will be held on Thursday, September 22nd from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at 830 West Central Ave. For more information, call Marvin at 829-9515.
The 19th annual weekend titled, “Celebrating Women Weaving the Web: Creating Conscious Community” will be held September 23 – 25 at the Boulder Hot Springs Resort in Boulder MT. The weekend explores how women can be fully present with each other to weave a web of wholeness and belonging. To register, or for other information, call 580-0562.
The Flathead Quilters’ Guild will hold their annual quilt show and sale this Friday and Saturday in the Expo Building of the Flathead County Fairgrounds in Kalispell. Activities include a vendor mall, a shopping boutique, refreshments, and raffles. Call 257-6966 for more information.
A spaghetti benefit dinner for Larissa Berg will be held on Friday, September 23rd at 5:30 behind the Frenchtown High School. If you’d like to help with the dinner or for more information, please contact Michelle at 544-2330.
The University of Montana Creative Writing Program will host its Writer’s Fall Opus at 6:30 on Friday evening, September 23. The event features fine food and the company of good friends and will be held in the Governor’s Room of the Florence Building in downtown Missoula.
