Today's Highlight: Today’s announcements are sponsored by the Montana Energy Promotion and Development Division, sponsoring a Wind and Transmission Summit to be held in Big Sky on September 25th through the 28th. Featuring national and regional experts, policy makers and more - including keynote speakers Montana Governor, Brian Schweitzer and Lauren Azar from the Department of Energy. A free public piano concert will be presented by Dr. Daniel Immel, Associate Professor of Music at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. Dr. Immel will play music of Rachmaninoff and Gaspard and others at 7:00 PM this Friday, September 9th in the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1000 Helena Ave in Helena. Women’s Opportunity Resource and Development in Missoula invites the public to participate in a Toiletry drive this Friday, September 9th. The drive will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at the Orange Street Food Farm. Requested items are toiletries such as shampoo, soap, and toothpastes or baby items like formula and diapers or dry goods and household cleaning items. Call Robyn at 543-3550 for complete details.

The Missoula Metropolitan Planning Organization is looking for volunteers to help with this fall’s non-motorized traffic counts that will take place this Saturday September 10th and next Tuesday September 13th. The counts will help with understanding how much local sidewalks, trails, and bike facilities are used. To volunteer, or for additional information, call 258-4989.

The Missoula Aging Services is offering a series of classes titled, “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” for anyone in the community caring for an older family member or friend. Six consecutive classes will run weekly, beginning on Friday, September 9th from 3:00 to 4:30. For further details, call 728-7682.

The Missoula Community Concert Band will begin their fall weekly practice sessions this Monday, September 12th at the Sentinel High School Band Room. The two-hour practices begin at 7:00 PM and will be conducted by Mr. John Combs. For more information, call 251-5079.





The Missoula Senior Center invites everyone to a Swedish pancake supper tomorrow at 4:00 PM that will be followed by Bingo Night at 6:00 o’clock. Then, on Saturday, September 10th a Thrift Shop Garage Sale will take place at the Center from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Later that evening “Heart to Heart’ will be at the Saturday Night Dance, beginning at 7:00 PM. For more information on all activities at the Senior Center, call 543-7154.
