Today's Highlight: Today’s University and Community Activities are sponsored by the Sanders County Art Council’s 8th Montana Baroque Music Festival that will be held July 19th through the 21st at Quinn’s Hot Spring Resort in Paradise. The festival will feature violinist Monica Huggett and messo soprano Angela Niederlo. Information is available at 826-3150 or online at montanabaroquefestival.org.

Lindsay Becker from the First Best Place Community Gardens in Columbia Falls will be presenting information on basic home composting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 14th during the Columbia Falls Farmer’s Market. The presentation is intended for the beginning gardener who is interested in cutting back on organic waste and turning it into compost for use in the home garden. Questions are welcome!

The Alternative Energy Resources Organization in Townsend invites the public to an Energy Tour tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, July 14th beginning at 1:30 in the Townsend School District, 201 N. Spruce. See energy efficiency and renewable energy projects first-hand, including a biomass boiler, solar array and wind turbine at the public school. A short presentation highlighting grants, rebates, tax credits, and loans to finance renewable energy systems will also be given. For further information, call 443-7272.

The Bitterroot Public Library’s Fellowship Club in Hamilton will host a discussion of the book, “Feelings Buried Alive Never Die” by Karol K. Truman. The book provides a comprehensive and enlightening resource for getting in touch with unresolved feelings which can distort not only happiness but also health and well-being. The discussion will take place on Thursday, July 14th from 6:00 – 7:30 PM in the Community Room of the library, located at 306 State Street in Hamilton. Call 363-1670 for more information.

Teens entering grades 6 – 12 are invited to participate in a Visionary Collage Workshop at Columbia Falls Discovery Square on Thursday, July 14th from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Participants will create personal collages based on their hopes and dreams for the future and all supplies are provided. The Lower Mission Valley Chapter of PEO in Ronan will hold their annual rummage sale from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Friday, July 15th at the Community Bank across from the park in Ronan. Baked goods, clothing, books, games, and miscellaneous items will be available for purchase and all proceeds will be used for college scholarships. Call Elizabeth at 676-2780 for more information.

The community in Alberton invites the public to their annual Railroad Day this Saturday, July 16th. Breakfast will be offered from 8:00 – 11:00 AM when the parade begins. Children’s games, food, vendors, and music will take place all day. Event winners will receive a wooden commemorative train whistle and the person who finds the hidden Golden Spike will win $100.
