Today's Highlight: The 36th Annual Head Start Pow-Wow will be held this Friday, May 6th in the Ronan Event Center on Dickinson Street, just off US Highway 93 in Ronan. A welcome and grand entry will commence at 5:00 p.m. and dinner, including roast buffalo, frybread, salad, and dessert will be served through the evening. A free developmental and preschool screening clinic for children ages 0 through 5 in the DeSmet School District will be held on Friday, May 6th from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. To schedule an appointment for your child’s screening or to receive more information, call 549-4994.

A gallery exhibit fundraiser for the Youth Image Project, a non-profit educational photography program for at-risk youth will be held this Thursday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Walking Man Frame Shop and Gallery, 305 Baker Avenue in Whitefish. All proceeds will go toward funding educational photographic programs that directly benefit at-risk youth in the Flathead Valley. For additional details, please call 270-3377.

As part of the 20th Annual Bike Walk Bus Week celebration, Adventure Cycling Association and Free Cycles will host a “commuter party” on Thursday, May 5th from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Free Cycles’ community bicycle shop, located at 732 S. 1st Street West in Missoula. Everyone is invited to join the Montana Wilderness Association for live bluegrass, food, drinks, and free guidebooks to 145 Montana hikes. This First Friday Wilderness event will be held on Friday, May 6th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Trailhead, 221 East Front Street in Missoula. The Montana Museum of Art and Culture invites the public to an artist reception for Barry Hood that will be held this First Friday, May 6th, beginning at 4:00 o’clock. Prior to the reception, the artist will give a presentation titled, “A Conversation with Barry Hood” at 3:00 p.m. in the Montana Theater in the PARTV Center on The University of Montana mountain campus in Missoula.
