Today's Highlight: Today’s University and Community Calendar is partly sponsored by Hellgate Hunters and Anglers, hosting their Wild Night for Wild Life on April 2nd at Montana Harley Davidson in Missoula. A St Patrick’s Day Dinner and Dance will be held at the St Regis Community Center this Friday, March 18th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. A corned beef and cabbage dinner will be served and the Eagles Nest Band will play. For more information, call Jessica at 649-7206.
The Students Abroad: Missoula program will host a “Potatoes from Peru” fundraising dinner tomorrow night, March 17th from 6:00 – 8:30 pm in the Missoula Senior Center, 705 South Higgins. The menu includes ham and potatoes using Peruvian recipes. The event also features raffle prizes, including a sweater knit from alpaca wool, embroidered home décor and other art pieces from Peru. The students plan to take donated clothing and school materials and will work in an afterschool program when they travel to Peru this summer. For more information, call Nancy at 543-8232.
The University of Montana Environmental Studies Program invites the public to their Wild Mercy Environmental Reading Series at 7:00 p.m. this Thursday night at the Missoulian Angler Fly Shop, 401 South Orange Street in Missoula. The evening will feature environmental writing from local writers, as well as from students, faculty alumni, and friends. For additional details, call 314-606-9120.
The Missoula Downtown Association is looking for volunteers to assist in conducting the Downtown Building and Business Inventory. A mandatory informational meeting and volunteer training will be held at the Missoula Public Library on Monday, March 21st from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. The Missoula YMCA is currently offering an afterschool club for children attending Chief Charlo, Cold Springs, Franklin, Hawthorne, Hellgate Elementary, Lewis and Clark, Paxon, Rattlesnake and Russell schools. The program runs Monday – Friday from 3:00 – 6:00 pm and transportation is provided. Financial Assistance is also available. For more information, contact Karen at 532-6272.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Montana Board of Housing, the Montana Department of Commerce, and NeighborWorks Montana invite the public to a Homebuyer’s Education Class. The classes will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Thornton Building, 65 East Broadway in Butte. The registration deadline is this Friday, March 18th.
