Today's Highlight:

Associate Professor of history at Georgia State University Glenn Eskew will give the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration lecture TONIGHT on the University of Montana mountain campus. Eskew will present, “Connor, King, Kennedy: Birmingham Icons Tell the Civil Rights Story” at 7:30 pm in the Gallagher Business Building, room 123. The Bitterroot Public Library in Hamilton will hold its “Brown Bag It” book discussion group on Thursday, January 27th from noon – 1:00 o’clock in the west meeting room of the library. The group will discuss “Churchill” by Paul Johnson and will also plan other book selections for the remainder of this year. Newcomers are always welcome. Youth Dynamics is currently accepting donations of new and gently used infant seats, car seats, and booster seats for use by therapeutic mentors, clinical staff, and other families served by Youth Dynamics. The public is invited to attend a lecture by Paul Wheaton titled, “Rocket Mass Heaters.” Learn how to heat your home with five times less wood than a conventional wood stove using a structure often made of earthen cob, a mixture of clay, sand, and straw, that can be built for as little as $20. The presentation will be given at 6:30 pm tomorrow, January 27th in the large conference room of the Missoula Public Library, 301 East Main Street. For more information, call 949-290-5887.

The University of Montana Campus Recreation department in Missoula will conduct an avalanche transceiver class from 4:30 – 8:30 pm on Thursday, January 27th. Whether you are new to using a transceiver or simply wanting to refresh your skills, this hands-on clinic will not only help you understand how your beacon works, but it will also provide valuable skills to help keep you safe in the back country. Free community yoga classes are currently underway at the Missoula Public Library. The classes are held in the library at 4:00 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays each week until the end of February. For more information on this class, call 370-2918.
