Today's Highlight: Home CO, the Homeless Coalition is meeting again so that the Missoula community can come together to discuss the challenges involved in homelessness. The meetings happen on Tuesdays at the Missoula Public Library small meeting room from 11:30 to 1:30 pm. Come for both hours or just one as your schedule permits. T he next meeting is set for Tuesday January 4th. Other dates in January are the 18th and 25th. To learn more call Mrs. Overaker at 880-1210.
This month the Butte Public Library is offering free classes in basic computer skills at their new South Branch at the Butte Plaza Mall. You can bring your own laptop or use one of the library computers. This week the class is “Super Basics”... learn how to open programs, right click/left click, cut and paste and more… the meeting times are Tuesday Jan 4th at 9:00am or Thursday Jan 6th at 6:30pm. Next week the class is “Email Made Easy.” Space is limited so please call to reserve a spot… 723-3361, ext 6302.
Also the Butte Public Library is calling all teen writers and artists to help finish the Teen Zine Winter Issue which still needs a few more pages. Teen writers and artists are invited to come and help create, write, draw and more. Come by yourself or bring a few friends. Bring something you’ve written or drawn, or plan to make something at the meeting. Refreshments will be served and materials provided. The Teen Zine happening is Tuesday Jan 4th from 4-6pm at the Butte Public Library South Branch in the Butte Plaza Mall… RSVP to butteya@gmail.com
The Bitterroot Public Library is holding preschool story time on Wednesday January 5th from 10:30-11:15am. Holli Hayes will read “Winter Wonderland” in the Children’s corner. On January 7th toddler story time happens from 10:30 to 11:15am in the west meeting room. And on January 11th from 9:30 to 11:30am Shawn Wathen is the lecturer for the Marjorie A Crawford Literature Seminar. The featured book for January is “The Jokers” by Albert Cossery. There are limited copies available to check out at the library and purchase copies are available at Chapter One Books. The literature seminars are free and open to all. Recreational trapping season lasts happens through May in Montana and traps and snares can be set on or near roads, trails and trailheads. Footloose Montana has a website with information to help keep you and your pets safe while recreating on public lands. Go to footloosemontana.org to check a map of places where traps have been found.
