Today's Highlight: On Saturday, October 2nd, Sam’s Spade Garden Tools and Wares in Hamilton will host a Perennial Plant Exchange from 11 am to 3 pm. Gardeners are invited to bring their fall perennials to trade with other perennial gardeners. This exchange also includes swapping books, tools, seeds, houseplants, and anything garden related. An exhibition featuring two nationally recognized artists will open September 30th at the Gallery of Visual Arts on the main campus of The University of Montana in Missoula. Through November 10th an interactive mixed media installation by Doug Anderson will be on display with a reception and presentation that will begin at 5:15 pm Thursday in the Social Science Building, Room 356. Five Valleys Audubon will hold an all-day field trip on Saturday, October 2nd to the Raptor View Institute’s banding site at Flesher Pass. A strenuous 2-mile hike is required to reach the banding site, but ATVs may be available to transport participants. Please wear appropriate dress for weather conditions. The Missoula Public Library invites the public to attend the First Friday Art Walk at the Missoula Art Museum on October 1st. Families First of Missoula will host a “Raising Peacemakers” seminar this Friday, October 1st from 9 am to 4 pm at Ruby’s Inn and Convention Center in Missoula. The seminar will offer two workshops that focus on providing tools to youth for peaceful problem solving skills. The event is intended for all parents, teachers, counselors, and child professionals who work with children in grades K – 12. The Arlee Community Development Corporation invites everyone to their final, Friday Farmer’s Market and Bluegrass Festival this Friday, October 1st. The celebration includes a bluegrass festival from 4 – 8 pm featuring the bands Baba Ganoush, The Gravely Mountain Boys and The Black Mountain Boys. In addition to the local produce, there will be an Indian Taco Dinner, a pie-tasting contest, a cider press demonstration, and events for the children. The celebration will be held rain or shine.
