Documentary Special for September 02, 2010 1:00 PM - 1:58 PM
Today's Highlight: 1:00 - "Jack Gladstone on Of the West"
Jack Gladstone is a Native "PoetSinger" from the Blackfeet Indian Nation of Montana. Regarded as a cultural bridge builder, he delivers programs nationally on American Indian mythology and history. He discusses the release of his new CD, "Native Anthropology"
1:30 - "Organic Agriculture, Cuban Style"
Organic agriculture is viewed as an upscale niche market in America. Not so in Cuba, where the collapse of the Soviet bloc devastated the Cuban economy and threatened famine unless Cubans learned to farm without petroleum, herbicides or pesticides. Havana’s pioneering Organoponica does that, using a self-financed, self-governed, 154-member cooperative whose director uses the words “profit," “markets," and “supply and demand."
