Today's Highlight: Today’s University and Community Activities are sponsored by the Ronald McDonald House in Missoula. Hosting it’s annual Red Shoe Ball, Friday, March 12th at 6:00 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn. Featuring auctions, dinner, and dancing. Registration is required by visiting the Web site: Redshoeball.com.

The Flathead Valley Community College’s First Year Interns are hosting another Chef’s Table on Friday, March 5th in the Arts and Technology Building in Kalispell. Appetizers will begin at 6:00 pm and the dinner will be served at 6:30. Tickets can be purchased in the FVCC Foundation Office or by calling 756-3963.

Nature-based UM tourism professor, Keith Bosak, will present a talk about mountaineering, trekking, and local lure surrounding Nanda Devi, India’s highest peak. The lecture will be given at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 4th in room 210 of McGill Hall on the University of Montana Missoula campus. For more information, call 243-5172.

A Community Emergency Response Team Training course will be held on March 6th, 13th, and 20th at the University of Montana – Helena campus. The training encompasses basic emergency preparedness and response skills. Call Lorri, the Citizen Corps Training Manager, at 444-1718 for complete details and to register.

The Clay Studio of Missoula is sponsoring numerous workshops during the month of March. A Clay and Chocolate workshop will be held on March 6th. An intro-level pottery class will be presented every Wednesday, from March 10th to May 5th or every Sunday from March 7th – May 2nd. An intermediate throwing classes and a handbuilding class will be held on Monday evenings beginning March 8th to May 3rd. For complete details on all of these classes, e-mail

A free Chili Feed given by the Florence Volunteer Fire Station in appreciation of the community’s support will be held on Saturday, March 6th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at 234 Holloway Lane in Florence. For more information, e-mail Heidi at heidi.kestrel@gmail.com.

The Flathead Audubon Society in Kalispell invites the public to a presentation by Steve Kohler who will speak on the different butterflies in Montana. The lecture will be given at 7:00 pm on Monday, March 8th at The Summit. Call Kathy at 837-3837 if you’d like more information.

On Monday, March 8th, Nancy Matheson, Margaret Cocoran and Steve Elliot will address how Helena residents can eat tasty local food that is healthy and supports the local economy.
