Today's Highlight: Today’s University and Community Activities are partly sponsored by Hooked on Art, a Bonner festival honoring Walter Hook with guest artist Bob Phinny. Over 30 artists will be featured along with live music, lunch and workshops on Saturday, February 13th from 10 to 4 at Bonner School.
Montana Tribal Colleges is hosting college and career fairs around Montana featuring colleges, universities, military branches and career options. They will be at Little Bighorn College in Crow Agency today from 11 to 2; on Tuesday February 2nd they’ll be at Chief Dull Knife College in Lame Deer from 9:30 to 12:30; Wednesday the third at Fort Peck Community College in Poplar from 11 to 1 and Thursday February 4th at Fort Belknap College in Harlem from 9 to noon. Help feed hungry animals this month during the AniMeals food drive! Today through February 28th Hunter’s Glen Residential Assisted Living Office will have a donation bin in their front lobby. The office is located at 3620 American Way in Missoula. Call 542-7009 for more information.
Three new exhibits focusing on fiber arts are coming to the Holter Museum of Art in Helena. Now through April 4th works from Portland artist Marie Watt, Missoula’s Nancy Erickson and Magic Carpets from Turkey will be open to the public. Call 442-6400 or visit HolterMuseum.org to find out more.
Would you know what to do in an avalanche? The Outdoor Program at the University of Montana is putting on an Avalanche Awareness Workshop. There will be free lectures at 7PM on both Tuesday and Wednesday this week in the Urey Lecture Hall and a field session for snowmobilers on February 6 and skiers or snowboarders on February 7th. The Butte Silver Bow Public Library is launching Homework Zone, a free homework help program on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 5. Students will be tutored by volunteers from Montana Tech Campus Corps and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Call 723-3361 for full details.
Join the Community Medical Center for its second annual Voices of Hope cancer Education summit. There will be panel discussions and the featured guest speaker is bestselling author and cancer survivor Joni Rodgers. This event is free and open to the public. It happens Wednesday February 3rd from 3:30 to 9 in Missoula at the Hilton Garden Inn. Call 327-4221 to register.
The Helena Hunters and Anglers Association invites the public to a Wild Game Feast pot luck followed by young and new hunters sharing their experiences. The night begins at 6PM and takes place the conference room of the Montana Wildlife Federation on February third. You are encouraged to bring a dish to share.
