Today's Highlight: The public is invited to attend the “Camp to Remember” benefit on Thursday, January 28th at 6:00 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kalispell. A Camp to Remember is for children ages 8 – 14 who are dealing with the death of a loved one. The Bitterroot Public Library in Hamilton will hold its Brown Bag book discussion at noon tomorrow at the library. They’ll discuss the book, “The Surrounded,” by D’Arcy McNickle. Then at 7:00 pm that evening at the library, the film, “Munyurangabo” will be shown as part of its Celebrating Cultural Diversity Adult Foreign Film series. The Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell invites the public to a lecture, “Coming to America – An African Refugee’s Tale,” by Wilmot J. Collins. The lecture will be given at 2:00 pm and at 6:00 pm on Thursday in the Blake Hall Board Room. Call 756-3945 for more information. The Montana Women Vote will hold its 4th annual Women’s Policy Leadership Institute on January 29th and 30th in Helena. The theme is “Making Connections: Women, Power, and Policy,” which will cover topics regarding running for office and understanding the world of policy work. Michelle Mead, lead forecaster at the National Weather Service in Missoula, will present a program on weather forecasting, trends, and technology at the Swan Ecosystem Center in Condon. FREE cervical health screenings for uninsured or underinsured women will be given on Saturday, January 30, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Partnership Health Center at 323 West Alder in Missoula. To schedule your free appointment, call 329-5654.

The public is invited to attend two morning seminars featuring business applications for transportation programs, as well as a “Transportation Best Practices Awards” luncheon. The Missoula Symphony Orchestra invites the public to their family concert titled, “The Symphony Goes Wild” – a high energy and educational one hour concert designed specifically for kids to enjoy with their parents. The Missoula Public Library invites teens in grades 7 – 12 to participate in a brainstorming session on what they want to see on the library MySpace page. The session will be tomorrow at 3:00 pm. Then at 7:00 pm tomorrow night, the public is invited to the library to share your philosophic ideas at the Socrates Café. The Montana Museum of Art and Culture on the University of Montana Missoula campus invites the public to view their current exhibit addressing social justice issues titled, “Speaking Volumes: Transforming Hate.” The exhibit is on display in the PAR-TV Center.
