Today's Highlight: First Night Missoula will take place from 11 am to 4 pm this New Year’s Eve. First Night is filled with theatre, dance, artists, poetry readings, plays, comedy, music, food, and entertainment. The Missoula Art Museum will showcase performances by talented musicians and will host children’s activities and programs. For more information, call 728-0447.

The students traveling to Germany this summer with the German American Partnership Program of Missoula will pick up your Christmas tree and bring it to the recycling center. The scheduled pick up time is between 7 am to 8 pm on Saturday, January 2nd, Sunday January 3rd, and on the following weekend, January 9th and 10th. To schedule a pick up, call 544-5919. Your support is very much appreciated.

The Kalispell Christmas Bird Count will take place this Sunday, January 3rd. Meet at 7:00 am at 660 East Idaho in Kalispell to organize teams that will count birds for part of the day or all day. To register and for more information, e-mail Dan Casey at caseys4@centurytel.net.

The Stevensville Art and Sculpture Society announces the start of their 2010 Membership Drive. Their mission is to promote the visual arts in the Bitterroot Valley through educational programs, public art projects, display member art, and production of art shows. Artists in any medium, arts supporters, and anyone who is interested in working on arts-related projects are invited to join. If you have a child aged 3 – 14 who is having behavioral problems, the Positive Parenting Program in Hamilton may be of some help for you. An 8-week program is designed for parents who are committed to raising happy and healthy kids and features a low fee, one-hour a week time commitment, and is simple and positive. Sessions start in January, 2010, so call 363-3450 to register.

All teenage writers, artists, photographers, poets, reviewers, and journalists are encouraged to submit your work to the Butte Public Library’s Teen Zine.
