Jazz At Lincoln Center for December 13, 2009 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM [Program Website]
Today's Highlight: "In This House, On This Morning" Wynton Marsalis's first commissioned work takes the form of a church service, packing brimstone, fire and a "Sweet Embrace" in the hands of drummer Herlin Riley, saxophonists Wess "Warmdaddy" Anderson and Todd Williams, trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, and "Swing Doom" - bassist Reginald Veal. With Marsalis on trumpet they give old Joshua some stiff competition in "Call to Prayer," "In This House," "Altar Call," and more.
Jazz at Lincoln Center's Peabody Award–winning radio series, Jazz From Lincoln Center, is hosted by Wynton Marsalis and broadcast weekly to over 240 public radio affiliates nationwide through the Jazz Satellite Network. The show features the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra along with contemporary jazz composers and performers.
Jazz at Lincoln Center is the world's largest not-for-profit arts organization committed to promoting the appreciation and understanding of jazz through performance, education, and preservation.
