This is Christine Dascenzo with your University and Community Activities for Tuesday, October 13th.

Have you gotten out your old winter gear yet? If any of it needs to be replaced, come by the Used Outdoor Gear Sale in Missoula. It will be this Thursday October 15th in the University Center Atrium from noon to 5pm.

Montana Farmers Union is holding the Healthy Farms Equals Healthy Communities Convention in Great Falls. It will run from October 16th through the 18th. Call 452-6406 to register and find out more.

Ian Lange is coming to Missoula to present a lecture on the Volcanoes of the Cascade Mountains. The Montana Natural History Center hosts the evening lecture at 120 Hickory Street tomorrow at 7pm.

AIM Higher, a Corvallis High School community service club will be collecting paper products for the local S.A.F.E. House. Students will be taking donations of diapers, feminine products, toilet paper and paper towels on October 13th from 4 to 8pm. They will be in front of local Hamilton grocery stores; call 360-1057 with any questions and for store locations.

The Missoula Art Museum will spotlight it’s current exhibit “Minidoka on My Mind” for their October 15th Artini Night from 5:30-9pm. The thought-provoking prints and paintings speak to the artist’s experience at a Japanese internment camp in the 1940s. The night will also feature pianist Lydia Brown’s performance of works by interned composers.

Plan Helena presents a City Commission Candidates’ Forum for Helena voters this Wednesday. Candidates will answer questions on future planning and growth in the city.
Come by the City/County Building at 316 N Park, Room 330 on October 14th from 7 to 9pm.

The University of Montana will launch the nation’s first interdisciplinary undergraduate minor in climate change with a keynote address by former US Senator and Secretary of the Navy John Warner on Thursday October 15th. Warner will speak on “National Security and Climate Change” from 7 to 8:30 pm in Urey Lecture Hall.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Flathead County needs volunteers to help delivery groceries to seniors in need throughout the Flathead Valley. Volunteers will need their own vehicle to delivery the groceries. Come by the RSVP parking lot in Kalispell from 12:30 to 3 on October 27th. Don’t forget to register by the 15th at 758-5712

The University of Montana School of Theatre and Dance will host “Meet the Artist” with Bebe Miller. The renowned choreographer will present “The Indirect Path from Here to There – Dance Making While Thinking at 5pm in room 005 of the Performing Arts and Radio/Television Center.” This event is free and open to the public
Carroll College presents a Lowney-Hunthausen Lecture “Stoned, Drunk or Sober?” Topics discussed by panelists will include lowering the drinking age, legalizing marijuana, stricter DUI laws, and more. Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock, Carroll students and others will be on the panel moderated by Jerry Lowney. This event is tonight at 7pm in the Carroll College Campus Center in Helena. Call 447-5407 for more information.
