Slicer's collection of poetry, The White Calf Kicks, won the Autumn House Prize judged by Naomi Nye. Her poems have appeared recently in several magazines, including Orion and Spoon River Poetry — also in two anthologies: Joyful Noise and When She Named Fire.
Slicer’s poems have been featured three times in recent years on Garrison Keillor's nationally syndicated radio program, The Writer's Almanac.
In addition to writing, Slicer teachers at the University of Montana and with the Missoula Writing Collaborative, a nonprofit organization that provides in-depth creative writing instruction to more than 4500 students each year. The kid poets you’ll hear during this program were recorded in June at Hawthorne School in Missoula..
