Today's Highlight: Are you an accordion lover? Who isn’t right? The North Valley Public Library in Stevensville is sponsoring Accordion music on first Friday this week. Join Judy and Tom Dempsey as they celebrate the accomplishments of their student Sage Heath, who is on her way to compete in the International Old Time Accordion Championships. Such beautiful weather is cause for dancing. That’s just what the Missoula Ecstatic Dancers do every 1st and 3rd Thursday in June and July. They meet at the Teranga Arts School from 6-7:30pm to dance in whatever way the body wants to go. Adults are welcome to participate, and a $5 donation is requested. The Alliance Francaise in Missoula is offering a six day summer camp for kids aged 8-17. Enjoy activities including music, dance, African drumming, drama, canoeing, swimming, and fishing, all French style! The camp will run from July 26th-31st and costs $275. You can register by June 15th for a price reduction, and their phone number is 549-9722.

Whitefish residents are invited to browse the shops and galleries of the downtown area this Thursday for the Whitefish First Thursday Gallery Nights. From 6-9pm on Thursday this week, businesses have opening receptions for local and regional artists and invite you to enjoy refreshments and a wonderful stroll through historic Whitefish. It is, of course, free of charge to stroll and browse. Call 863-2787 to know more.

The 5th Annual Summer Writing Camp of the Montana Writing Project is going to start up son. This camp is for students grades 6-9 who are interested in devoting their time to writing. Participants receive individualized writing instruction, engage with peers as members of a writing community, and publish their works in an anthology. The camp runs from June 15th-26th on weekday mornings from 9-12:30 on the UM campus. Cost is $175 and the registration needs to be completed by June 12th. Would you like to give your child of 3-7 years an opportunity to participate in story time, art projects, and educational games all designed to progress literacy? Families First is hosting Ready, Set, Read tomorrow at 11am in the Missoula Children’s Museum as part of their early literacy program. Call 541-7529 to register.

And finally, for the official business: Applicants are sought by Missoula County for the following commissioner-appointed boards- The Weed Control Board, The Missoula County Park Board, The Missoula Development Board, and the Aging Services Board. If you are interested in getting involved with any of these city management boards, applications are available at the County Commissioners Office in the Missoula Courthouse Annex. Submissions may be faxed to 721-4043 and need to be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday, June 17th. For further information, please contact their office at 258-487.
