Missoula County invites the public to participate in the planning process of the Western Montana Fair and fairgrounds. The event will be held TONIGHT at 5:30 in the Home Arts Building at the fairgrounds. Please contact the Fair Office at 721-3247 with questions or for more information.
The third-annual 31 cent Scoop Night to honor the National Volunteer Fire Council will be held TONIGHT from 5 – 9 pm at Baskin-Robbins in Missoula. The money raised will help local fire stations. Missoula firefighters will be on-hand with fire trucks and equipment. Call 542-2731 for more information.
The Whitefish Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting registrations for their summer adult sports leagues in softball, soccer, and ultimate Frisbee. C.S. Porter Middle School in Missoula will host a Spring Showcase and fundraiser on Thursday, April 30th from 6 – 8 p.m. The evening consists of art exhibits, musical and theatrical performances, digital and technological display, a silent auction, themed baskets, as well as scholastic work from all content areas. Carroll College in Helena is hosting the first solo art exhibit of Nancy Brabowski in the Corette Library, 1601 North Benton Ave. The show runs from April 9 – May 15th with a reception on April 30th from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. Call 461-7131 for more information.
The best films of the Banff Mountain Film Festival will be shown at the Helena Middle School this Friday, May 1st at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for adults are $8.50 in advance and $10.00 at the door. A demonstration and march to draw attention to the effects of the financial meltdown and bailout on workers and students will take place May 1st at 2:00 p.m. on the oval on the University of Montana campus in Missoula. Events include theatre, music, and a rally. Call 363-5292 for complete details.
The Flathead Democratic Party Spring Dinner will be held this Friday, May 1st at the Grouse Mountain Lodge on Highway 93 North in Whitefish. A workshop for people who would like some introduction or coaching with their play boating will be held on Friday, May 1st from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Outdoor Programs on The University of Montana campus in Missoula.
