Today's Highlight: The Flathead Food Bank in Kalispell is currently accepting donations of turkeys and holiday food items for the Thanksgiving holiday. They are currently in need of over 700 turkeys and any size turkey or turkey breast would be very much appreciated. The Flathead Food Bank is located at 1105 6th Ave West and is accepting donations on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm and on Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. The Special Olympics of Montana is currently conducting its “World of Winners On-Line Auction.” Go to the Web site: www.somt.org to preview or bid on the items which include Denver Broncos home game tickets and 1 night lodging for two for a 2009 home game. Bidding ends at 9:00 pm on Friday, November 21st. If you have any questions regarding the Special Olympics of Montana auction, call 216-5327.

The Montana Natural History Center invites the public to listen to John Squires, a lynx wildlife biologist for the Rocky Mountain Research Station as he profiles the solitary Canada lynx. The program is at 7:00 o’clock TONIGHT at the Montana Natural History Center, 120 Hickory Street. Call 327-0405 for further information.

Families First of Missoula will present the program, “W.O.W. Food is Fuel” on Thursday, November 20th at 3:45 pm at the Children’s Museum, 225 West Front Street. This program will explore the wonders of the natural world through science-based discovery. For more information on this, or any other program sponsored by Families First, call 541-7529.

A&E Architects of Missoula is sponsoring an annual Food Drive for the Food Bank of Missoula. Please donate non-perishable foods by noon on Thursday, November 20th to A& E Architects, 222 North Higgins, next to Fact and Fiction Bookstore downtown. They will create a sculpture in full public view from your generous donations. Call 721-5643 for more information.

Dr. Kari Harris of the University of Montana’s School of Public and Community Health Sciences will be presenting a public lecture entitled, “Promoting Smoking Cessation in Special Populations: Research Opportunities and Challenges.” The lecture will be given at noon tomorrow, November 20th in room 304 of the Clapp Building on the UM campus in Missoula. The Creative Writing Program at The University of Montana in Missoula invites the public to a lecture that will be given by visiting fiction writer, Michael Martone. The lecture, entitled, “Homer on Homer or A Bunch of Stuff that Happens” will be given at noon this Friday, November 21st in room 106 of the Forestry Building. Mr. Martone will also give a prose reading on Friday evening at 7:00 pm in the Dell Brown Room of Turner Hall on the UM campus. Call 243-5267 if you’d like more information.

Kids are invited to join teacher, Suzette Dussault this Saturday and every Saturday through December 20th for cooking, eating, and cleaning up! Learn about good food, cooking how-to’s, and kitchen safety. Enrollment is limited to 6 at a cost of $20 per session except the last one. This week’s class will be on Thanksgiving pies. The public is invited to support the Clark Fork Coalition by purchasing raffle tickets to this year’s 2008 Wine Raffle. The first prize is 50 bottles of assorted wine, with additional second and third prize awards of wine to be given out as well. Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25 and can be purchased at the Clark Fork Coalition office, 140 South 4th Street West in Missoula.
