Joseph Marshall

Marshall was born and raised on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota in a traditional native household where the first language was Lakota. He learned the ancient tradition of oral storytelling from his grandparents and other tribal elders.

Marshall has published seven nonfiction books, and two novels, contributed to four other publications, written several screenplays, and taught and developed curriculum for high schools and universities. He has also appeared in television documentaries, served as technical advisor for films, and had a role in a major television network movie.
