Today's Highlight: The Southwest Montana Arts Council of Dillon will be hosting the QueBe Sisters Band at their “lunch at Jaycee Park” in Dillon. The QueBe Sisters Band will be performing Texas-style fiddle music on Thursday, July 10th from noon to 1:00 pm. Food is available for purchase or you may bring your own picnic lunch. If you have any questions, please call 683-7772.

As part of its World Wide Cinema series, the Missoula Public Library will show the Argentinean drama, “XXY,” followed by the German short film, “The Pick up Artist.” The films are free and open to the public, but are intended for the mature audience. They are scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm this Friday, July 11th. For complete information about these films, or other library events, visit the library’s Web site at www.missoulapubliclibrary.org or call 721-2665.

The Missoula Senior Citizens’ Center is sponsoring a motor coach trip to the National Folk Festival in Butte on Saturday, July 12th. The bus will leave the Rosauers’ Parking Lot at 8 am and will return to Missoula around 6:00 pm that evening. The cost is $47. Then on Tuesday, July 15th the Missoula Senior Citizens Center will host a Folk Dance, beginning at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $2 for members and $3 for non-members. For more details regarding these or other activities at the Center, call 543-7154.

The Montana Discovery Foundation and the Helena National Forest will host “The Irish Session Players” on Sunday, July 13th at the Moose Creek Ranger Station on Rimini Road. The Concert begins at 3:00 pm, but tours of the cabin begin at 2:00 pm. This is a family-friendly program and is free and open to the public. For more information and directions to reach the Moose Creek Cabin, call Debbie at 495-3711.

Families First of Missoula is offering a parenting forum to be given by Judy Wright at the Missoula Public Library on Tuesday, July 15th from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. This free class will give parents, teachers, and caregivers solid suggestions for achieving more cooperation from children and childcare is provided. On Tuesday evening, July 15th from 5:30 – 7:00 pm join Families First for a “Fun Night at the Farm” to explore the Garden City Harvest Community Farm at the beginning of the growing season. The Good Food Store will help provide a delicious organic meal. Please call 721-7690 to register so that there will be enough food for everyone.

The Pacific Cultural Exchange encourages everyone to consider a “staycation” this year. Hosting a foreign exchange student is a wonderful way to give your family an international experience and can be done by calling 1-888-743-8721.




The AIDS quilt is coming to the University of Montana in September and event organizers are asking those who would like to see a specific panel displayed to contact the Missoula AIDS Council by Aug. 1. Friends and family with loved ones who are memorialized in the quilt can request panels be displayed by calling the Missoula AIDS Council at 543-4770.
