Today's Highlight: The Montana Natural History Center invites the community to join Elaine Sheff, an herbalist and owner of Meadowsweet Herbs, for an edible and medicinal plant walk in Missoula. She will show participants how to identify both native and naturalized medicinal plants including poplar, yarrow, dandelion, knapweed and many more, this Saturday, June 28th from 2 to 4:30pm. Summer in America is the title of the Great Falls Symphony annual summer concert happening this Wednesday, June 25th at the Whittier Park Complex and Great Falls Civic Center. There will be activities, games and food beginning at 5:30pm and the orchestra will take the stage at 7pm. This free event is open to the public though there are a limited number of reserved seats available for purchase. Call 453-4102 for more information.
The Capital City Amateur Radio Club will host the American Radio Relay League’s annual Field Day exercises from noon Saturday, June 28th until noon Sunday, June 29th, at group use area “B” at the Hellgate Recreation Area of the east shore of Canyon Ferry Lake near Helena. An estimate 35,000 “hams” throughout the US and Canada will operate field radio stations over the 24-hour period using alternative power sources to simulate conditions encountered during a emergency situation or natural disaster. The Missoula Art Museum is offering summer art classes for children June 30th through July 3rd. Children ages 4 to 6 will meet from 10am until noon each day in a workshop focused on using sticks and twigs to create painted wooded figures. From 1 to 3pm, children aged 8 to 12 will create mix-media sculptures using recycled objects, fabric, wire, paper and other materials. Classes will be held at the Museum, 335 N. The National MS Society is hosting free yoga classes at the Butte YMCA, 4040 Paxton Street, from 10 to 11am on Wednesdays from June 25th to July 30th. This gentle yoga program is a great way to relax and reenergize. Call 800-344-4867 and press option 2 on the menu to register.

Registration is still open for walkers, hikers and runners who would like to participate in the Northwest Interpretive Association’s, Mountain to Meadow half marathon and 5k fun run beginning at 7:30am on June 28th. Both races will begin at the Lolo Pass Visitor Center on Highway 12 at the Idaho-Montana border and wind through forests with dramatic views of the mountains in the distance. Missoula County Public Schools are accepting registration of students ages 3 to 5 for its Early Learning Preschool Center at Jefferson School, 1700 South Ave. West in Missoula. The pre-school offers half-day classes, three days a week with morning session from 8:45am to 11:15am and afternoon sessions from 12:30 to 3pm. Classes will begin September 3rd and students who turned three by March 1, 2008 are eligible. Participation fees are $78 per month. Call 728-2400, ext. 1024 for more information.
