Today's Highlight: Applications are now being accepted for people interested in serving on a number of Missoula County Commission Appointed Boards. If you are interested in serving on the Weed Control Board, The Missoula County Park Board, the Missoula Development Authority or the Aging Services Board, you should contact the Office of the County Commissioners at 258-4877 or go on line to www.co.missoula.mt.us. Applications are due by 5pm on Friday, June 13th.
Tomorrow, June 4th from 5:30 to 7 PM the Bitterroot Public Library will present a Youth Art Gallery Opening featuring two young artists from the Bitterroot Valley. Stop by the Public Library at 306 State Street in Hamilton until the end of June to view the art work.
Families First is presenting a number of parenting workshops over the next few weeks. On Wednesday June 4th, from 10:30 to 11:30am, there will be a Post Partum Support Group at The Birth Center, 1211 S. Reserve St., Suite 101 in Missoula. The following Wednesday, June 11th, there will be a Relatives as Parent Program from 6:15 to 8:15pm at the Missoula YMCA. You can register for these free programs at 721-7690 and childcare is provided. In Pablo on Wednesday, June 11th from 7 to 9 pm there will be a program about Positive Discipline for Early Childhood presented by Pablo Head Start. To register for this workshop call 676-4509.
Volunteer drivers are needed for the American Cancer Society “Road to Recovery” program which pairs cancer patients in need of transportation to and from their treatments with volunteers willing to drive them. Often patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation suffer fatigue and nausea and are unable to drive themselves. The Ravalli County Museum is celebrating “Bitter Root Days” on June 7th from 9am until 3pm during an expanded farmers market at 205 Bedford at 3rd Street in Hamilton, outside of the Ravalli County Museum. Call 363-3338 for more information.
On Saturday, June 7th, from 10am until 4pm, the Missoula Iris Society is having a benefit garden tour of 7 gardens around Missoula. This self-guided tour is $10 for maps, tickets and information. Call 251-5833 or 829-8868 for more information.
This summer is the time to catch the reading bug at the Missoula Public Library’s Family Reading Program. Now through August 30th, the library will have special programs celebrating spiders, insects and creepy-crawlies, including a series of Tuesday afternoon activities starting June 17th at 2pm for school aged children. Call the Missoula Library at 721-2665 for all the details.
