Today's Highlight: The public is invited to attend a pre-primary election debate given by the seven Ravalli County Commissioner candidates. The debate will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 29 in the Art Building of the Hamilton Fairgrounds. For additional information on these debates, please call 370-1555.
The Sentinel High School bands invite the public to a pot luck and performance TONIGHT at Sentinel High School in Missoula. The potluck begins at 6:00 pm with desserts and beverages provided by the Band Parents’ Organization, and the music performance will begin at 7:30 pm in the Margaret Johnson Theatre. The Missoula Public Library is conducting a Youth Forum for teens ages 13 – 18 on the highs and lows of dating. The conversation will begin at 7:00 TONIGHT at the library. The YWCA of Missoula invites the public to a brown bag lunch and panel discussion on the impact of “Racism and Sexism in the 2008 Presidential Campaign.” The discussion will take place on Thursday, May 29th from noon to 1:30 at the YWCA, 1130 W. Broadway. Call 543-6691 for further details.
Habitat for Humanity of Missoula invites the public to a Wall Raising Celebration at 9:00 am this Saturday, May 31st at the construction site, 4214 Diagon Lane in the Windsor Park Development. The Missoula Aging Services is currently seeking volunteers to help detect fraud, waste, and abuse in the Medicare system. The volunteers will provide one-to-one assistance, and show those who depend on Medicare how to read the paperwork and track medical expenses. Some volunteers may give small group presentations. Full training about Medicare basics is provided as well as ongoing support. For those who are interested, or for more information, call Curtis at the Missoula Aging Services at 728-7682.
The American Red Cross is conducting a number of drawings this week. Today, they will be at the Florence-Carlton High School, the Polson LDS Church, as well as at the Red Cross Center in Missoula. On Thursday, they’ll be at the Missoula DirectTV and at the Corner Stone Building of the North Valley Hospital in Whitefish. On Friday, May 30th, they’ll be at the Hospital Circle in the Browning Community and again at the Red Cross Center in Missoula. A three-day Open Mic will be held at the Venus Rising in Butte during the National Folk Festival to be held on July 11 – 13th. A call to all musicians and friends of the Art Foundation is currently underway for local and regional talent to play half-hour sets on each hour of the National Folk Festival weekend.
