Today's Highlight: "Charlie Johnson's paradise Club Orchestra"
In Harlem of the mid-/late-1920s, pianist Charlie Johnson's Paradise Club Orchestra was one of the top jazz bands, rivaled only by the dance bands of Duke Ellington, Luis Russell and Fletcher Henderson. What amazed the patrons was how Johnson's ten-piece group could get such a BIG SOUND!!!
