Today's Highlight: The first annual Artwalk will be held on Friday, May 2nd from 5 – 9 pm in uptown Butte. Included in the festivities will be live music, street performers, as well as a variety of artistic exhibits. A Used Art and Jewelry sale will be held in association with the Stevensville First Friday event on Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd at 213 Main Street, next to the Bitterroot Star in Stevensville. A “Pre-Sale Party” for all donors will also be held on Thursday, May 1st from 7 – 9 pm. For donations before the event, call 777-3928.

The Great Bear Foundation of Missoula will host the 9th International, Multi-Cultural Bear Honoring from May 2nd to the 4th. The events begin on Friday, May 2nd at 4 pm in the Greenough Park picnic area with several presentations regarding bears and will be followed by a Bear Foods Buffet at 7:00 pm. On Saturday, a tour of the Salish Kootenai College begins the day as well numerous other activities and programs. On Sunday, a cultural talk will take place at the Avalanche Gate and continue with a presentation on learning bear foods and watching for bears on the Avalanche Chute. A Secondary Art Market Sale will be held on Friday, May 2nd at the Missoula Senior Center from 5 – 8 pm. This is a one-time offering of art at below market prices by many famous Montana and nationally known artists. For more information, contact Linda at 251-1425.
The Western Montana Woodcarvers Show will be held May 2 – 4 at the Home Arts Building at the Missoula County Fairgrounds. Entries will be accepted on May 2nd from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. Public viewing will be on May 3 from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm and on May 4th from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm. For further information, contact Barbara at 543-4883.

A Spring Contra Dance will be held on Saturday, May 3rd on the second floor of the Union Hall in Missoula. Featured is the band The River City Ramblers and the caller will be Bev Young. The public is invited to the Five Valleys Land and Trust’s 14th annual banquet and auction on Saturday, May 3rd beginning at 5:30 pm. To make a reservation or for more information call them at 549-0755.


A free screening of the documentary, “Subdivide and Conquer” will be shown at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 3rd at the Pharohplex Theatre in Hamilton. The one hour film is “an engaging and educational documentary on the consequences and projected solutions of rural growth.” The seating is on a first-come, first served” basis and residents are encouraged to arrive early. Bill Harley, the award-winning story-teller, song-writer, and author, will perform at the Seeley-Swan High School this Sunday, May 4th at 3:00 in the afternoon. Everyone is encouraged to attend, including families with children. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for Seniors, and $4 for youth.
