Today's Highlight: The Montana Museum of Art & Culture is holding a panel discussion entitled Hunger and Poverty at Home, the Current Reality in Missoula and Montana, tonight, April 22nd, at 7pm in Meloy Gallery, in the ParTV Center on the University of Montana campus. The discussion is free and open to the public. Call 243-2019 for more information.

There will be a free guitar workshop Wednesday, April 23rd at 4pm at the Music Box, 612 N. First St., in Hamilton. This country thumb-finger guitar workshop will be taught by Missouri Clem who can be reached at 961-4949.

One of the state’s largest art shows featuring works by more than 500 area high school students is running now through April 27th at Southgate Mall in Missoula. For more information call 542-4030.


The Institute of Medicine and Humanities, presents the 2nd Annual Ridge Symposium, Thursday, April 24th at 6pm in the St. Patrick Hospital Conference Center, 500 W. Broadway, Missoula. This free lecture is entitled “What Happened to the Right to Die Issues?” Call 327-3162 for more information.

On Friday, April 25th at 8am, the Institute of Medicine and Humanities, Medical Ethics Lecture Series continues with a free presentation entitled “Can Doctors and Nurses talking to each other improve patient and family outcomes?” in the St. Patrick Hospital Conference Center, 500 W. The Missoula Public Library is hosting Montana Poets, an evening with four local poets of all ages, Wednesday, April 23rd at 7pm at the Library, 301 East Main St., in Missoula. The event is free and open to the public. Call 721-2665 for additional details.

Anyone interested in starting or financing a small business, is invited to a workshop in Butte, Wednesday, April 23rd from 11am to 1pm. The workshop will include information about business plans, marketing, cash flow, loan options and a number of other topics. Registration for Missoula Family YMCA Spring swimming lessons begins today, April 22nd on a first-come, first-serve basis. Financial assistance is available. The YMCA is located at 3000 Russell Street in Missoula. Call 721- 9622 to register.

The University of Montana, Student Assault Resource Center is sponsoring an event entitled “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes – The Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence.” This fun event includes free food and music and is open to everyone especially men and boys to raise awareness during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The event takes place Wednesday, April 23rd from noon until 1pm on the Oval, in front of Main Hall, on the campus of the University of Montana. Call 243-6429 for more information.

A call for Artists - The New American Paintings Competition is now accepting entries for its 2008 Western competition. Materials need to be postmarked by April, 30th and sent to Open Studios Press, 450 Harrison Ave., number 305, Boston, MA 02118.
