Jazz At Lincoln Center for April 20, 2008 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM [Program Website]
Today's Highlight: "Richard Galliano " The French squeezebox master holds court high above Lincoln Center, in the Kaplan Penthouse, with bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Clarence Penn. Galliano's take on the bal musette sound begins with its Parisian café roots and winds through a history of the accordion - and jazz. The trio plays a number of Galliano originals, plus Astor Piazzolla's gorgeous "Libertango" for good measure.
Jazz at Lincoln Center's Peabody Award–winning radio series, Jazz From Lincoln Center, is hosted by Wynton Marsalis and broadcast weekly to over 240 public radio affiliates nationwide through the Jazz Satellite Network. The show features the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra along with contemporary jazz composers and performers.
