Today's Highlight: "Sketches of Gil Evans"
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra honors the godfather of cool -- the incomparable arranger and composer Gil Evans. This concert features his collaborations with Miles Davis and key albums from his own output. Evans' large ensemble work - especially with Miles - opened ears to a softer way of big band arranging. Written by David Goren, Wynton Marsalis hosts.
Jazz at Lincoln Center's Peabody Award–winning radio series, Jazz From Lincoln Center, is hosted by Wynton Marsalis and broadcast weekly to over 240 public radio affiliates nationwide through the Jazz Satellite Network. The show features the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra along with contemporary jazz composers and performers.
