Host Producer : Larry Garde

1. Willie Nelson - Valentine - Across the Borderline - 1993 - WN - Columbia - In my opinion, this is one of the prolific Willie Nelson's strongest albums of his career.

2. Sam Cooke - Cupid - single - 1961 - SC - RCA -

3. The Dixie Cups - Chapel of Love - single - 1964 - Spector & others - Red Bird -

4. The Reflections - (Just Like) Romeo and Juliet - single - 1964 - - - "One-hit-wonders", but I've always thought this was a great rock n' roll song. Glad to have an opportunity to play on the radio.

5. The Casinos - Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye - single - 1967 - J. Loudermilk - -

6. The Four Seasons - Candy Girl - single - 1962 - - -

7. The Flamingos - I Only Have Eyes for You - single - 1959 - Harry Warren - - This song was featured in 1934 movie, Dames.

8. Ben E. King - I (Who Have Nothing) - single - 1963 - - Atlantic - Lieber & Stoller wrote lyrics to what was originally an Italian Song.

9. Mel Carter - Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me - single - 1965 - - - Great voice!

10. Beach Boys - God Only Knows - Pet Sounds - 1966 - Brian Wilson - Capitol - Hard to select just one Beach Boys songs. Brian wrote some bvery sweet love songs, but this one had to be included.

11. The Beatles - And I Love Her - Something New - 1964 - Lennon/McCartney - EMI - Not a single member of the Beatles was yet 25 years old when they recoded this beautiful song.

12. The Association - Everything that Touches You - single - 1968 - - -

13. The Righteous Brothers - (You're My) Soul & Inspiration - single - 1966 - Mann/Weil - Verve - Sounds like Phil Spector production, ala You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling. But Bill Medley produced this after the "brothers" had just left Spector. Same Brill Building songwriters wrote both these (as well as many others) hits.

14. The Angels - Till - single - 1961 - - Caprice -

15. Ruby and the Romantics - Our Day Will Come - single - 1963 - - -

16. The Shirelles - Baby, It's You - single - 1962 - - Roulette -

17. Barbara Lewis - Baby, I'm Yours - single - 1965 - Van McCoy - Atlantic - Although Barbara Lewis did not write this song, she did write her earlier hit, "Hello Stranger", as well as some other successful songs.

18. Bettye Swan - Make Me Yours - single - 1967 - BS - CBS -

19. Petula Clark - I Couldn't Live Without Your Love - single - 1966 - - -

22. Peaches & Herb - Reunited - single - 1979 - - Polydor - Linda Greene was really the second "Peaches". Herb and the first Peaches had hits 10 years eaelier.

23. The Temptations - You're My Everything - single - 1967 - - Motown - Eddie Kendrick sings first (falsetto) lead, then David Ruffin leads.

24. Billy Stewart - I Do Love You - single - 1965 - BS - Chess -

25. Leon Russell - A Song For You - Leon Russell first ("blue") album - 1970 - LR - Shelter -

26. The Beatles - I Need You - Help! - 1965 - George Harrison - Capitol - So many great Beatle love songs, wanted to include one Geaorge!

27. Bob Dylan - I Want You - Blonde on Blonde - 1966 - BD - Columbia - Bob, although perhaps better known as a "topical songwriter", has written some wonderful love songs. This one, although the lyrics are somewhat oblique, seemed like a good one to follow up fellow Traveling Wilbury, Harrison's "I Need You".

28. The Drifters - True Love, True Love - - 1959 - - Atlantic - Flip side of "Dance With Me".

29. Spanky and Our Gang - Like to Get to Know You - single - 1968 - - Mercury - Lead singer, Elaine "Spanky" McFarlane eventually joined the Mamas and Papas after the "Gang" broke up following the death of Malcolm Hale.

30. Bruce Springsteen - Valentine's Day - Tunnel of Love - 1987 - BS - Columbia - This underrated album is, perhaps my favorite by "The Boss".

Each day of the week has its own flavor on Montana Public Radio's Morning Freeforms.

William Marcus gets into a mellow groove on Mondays; Michael Marsolek's shows range from contemporary folk to jazz to world music on Tuesdays; Wednesday is our women hosts with Susan Israel, Joan Richarde, Cherie Newman, Annie Garde and others; Gus Chambers dips into a little bit of blues, funk, soul, pop, and a dollop of kitsch on Thursdays; and Friday is hosted by John Floridis or Rigel Bankshot - listen for our "Live from Studio B" sessions with artists touring Montana on Fridays.
