Today's Highlight: The University of Montana in Missoula Center for Ethics is hosting a lecture titled “Intrinsic Value, Landscape and Environmental Ethics” this afternoon at 12:30PM with Professor Sven Arntzen in the Gallagher Buisness Building Room 226. For more information, call 243-6632.

The Montana Rep Missoula is performing “Stones in His Pockets” by Marie Jones February 12 through the 16th at 8PM in the Crystal Theater. Tickets are ten dollars Tuesday through Thursday and fifteen dollars Friday and Saturday. Student rush tickets are available for five dollars after 7PM. Dr. Marsha Goetting is touring the state this week to give a basic estate planning seminar. Today, the seminar will be held at the Lolo Community Center from seven until nine PM and is free. Tomorrow, Wednesday February 13th, it will be held at the Missoula Public Library from six thirty to eight thirty PM and is free. Thursday February 14th, it will be held in Hamilton City Hall from 9:30 until 11:30 AM and costs ten dollars. To register for the Hamilton meeting or for more information, call 375-6611.

The Montana Natural History Center in Missoula is sponsoring “The Wonder of Winter Raptors with Denver Holt” this Saturday February 16th from 7:30AM until 5PM. Participants will spend the day at the Ninepipes Wildlife Refuge. Registration is 35 dollars for MNHC members and 40 dollars for non-members. Call 327-0405 to learn more.

The Humane Society of Western Montana is holding a “Furry Valentine” fundraiser. To participate, the cost is fifty dollars to sponsor a pet in your valentine’s name. Then, on Valentine’s Day a plush animal, a card, and a balloon will be delivered to the recipient of your choice. Today is the final day for this fundraiser. Also sponsored by The Humane Society, the 2nd Annual Adopt-a-thon begins February 14th at 4PM until midnight and continues through the 15th and 16th from noon until 8PM. The La Leche League of Missoula meets today in the Missoula Public Library’s Large Meeting Room at 11:30AM. This meeting is open to all expectant and breastfeeding mothers and their children. Call 721-6111 for more information.

The Missoula Public Library has several events planned for this week. Tonight, there is a lecture titled “Four Presidents look at Alexander Hamilton” in conjunction with the traveling exhibit “Alexander Hamilton, The Man who Made Modern America” at 7PM. Thursday February 14th, Dr. Billy Smith will present “Alexander Hamilton: An Alternative View” at 7PM. Then, Friday the 15th, the Library will hold “Cheap Date Night” at 7PM. Northwest Connections is offering several Animal Tracking Clinics in Swan Valley this month. The first is this weekend, February 16th and 17th. The second is next weekend, February 23rd and 24th. The American Red Cross is holding several blood drives across the state this week. Today, in Hamilton, you can donate at Grace Lutheran Church from 12:30 until 5:30PM. Call 777-0707 to schedule an appointment. In Kalispell, donations are being accepted at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center from noon to 4PM. Thursday the 14th, in Missoula, you can donate at the University Center from 10AM until 4PM. Call 542-7104 for an appointment. In Columbia Falls, donations will be accepted at Meadow Lake Resort from 9:30AM to 1:30PM. Next week, on Monday the 18th, you can donate in Condon at the Elementary School Gym from 2PM until 6PM. The Missoula Writing Collaborative is holding a Wings and Arrows Poetry Reading and Silent Auction this evening at 7PM in Dauphine’s Bakery and Café. The event is free and open to the pubic. To learn more, call 549-3348.

The Montana Native Plant Society is holding a lecture this Thursday February 14th at 7:30PM in the Gallagher Business Building Room L14 on the University of Montana campus. Fred Allendorf will discuss “Wildflowers From Down Under” and show slides from his recent trip to New Zealand. This event is free and open to the public.
