Friday Specials for January 18, 2008 1:05 PM - 2:00 PM
Today's Highlight: A lecture given by David M. Walker (Controller General of the United States) Comptroller General Walker runs the Government Accountability Office, which audits the government’s books. On 7 March 2007, he told Steve Kroft of 60 Minutes that “the most serious threat to the United States is not someone hiding in a cave in Afghanistan or Pakistan, but our own fiscal irresponsibility.” In his lecture, given at The University of Montana on October 9, 2007, he described the fiscal cancer that in his judgment threatens the very survival of the American Republic.
