The Write Question for January 13, 2008
11:46 AM - 11:59 AM

Today's Highlight:

Welcome to The Write Question, a program that explores the world of writing and publishing in the western United States. Our guest today is Chrysti Smith from Belgrade, Montana.

LISTEN TO THE PROGRAM
Chrysti Smith

Smith — researcher, writer, and narrator for the radio series, "Chrysti The Wordsmith" — grew up in Poplar, Montana. During her undergraduate years at Montana State University in Bozeman, she developed a fascination for the origin of words. Her hobby was collecting and reading dictionaries.

In 1989, Smith’s desire to share her passion for words motivated her to approach the manager of KGLT, the campus radio station, about recording her scripts.

Her first book, Verbivore’s Feast: A Banquet of Word and Phrase Origins, was published in 2004 by Farcountry Press. Verbivore’s Feast: Second Course, followed in 2006. Both books are compilations of Chrysti The Wordsmith radio scripts.

FYI: Information About New Books By Regional Authors

Recently published books by regional writers include, Grand Obsession: A Piano Odyssey, a memoir by Perri Knize, from Missoula, Montana.

And here's a thought from Charles W. Eliot: “Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”
